Best Mountain Bike Trails Near Cannon Beach, Oregon
If you're like me, you need to go from mountains to beach at least a few times each year. If you go to Cannon Beach, Oregon, you won't need to leave your mountain biking plans behind.
Fewer than 7 miles from Cannon Beach is Klootchy Creek (sometimes known as Cloutrie Creek). While you need a permit to ride there, the permit is free (just sign up for it online before you show up at the parking lot). It is a complex of trails maintained by the North Coast Trail Alliance, webbed throughout tall, dark fir tree forests and open-air green growth trails. Some of my favorites:
- Greenwood (great uphill trail through new-growth, about 1,000 vertical feet of climb).
- Chris Cross (fairly straightforward, flowy and easy/fun downhill).
- Mo Flow (a real dose of PNW downhill, with flowy berms and jumps, through deep/dark fir tree forest).
- Toad (aka, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, a rooty and drop-filled downhill ride in a dark forest).
- Sticky Buns (a techy and fun downhill through ferns and firs).
- The Enduro Trail (super fun and steep, similar to a run like Insurgent in Park City, Utah, but with more jumps and a dark-n-shady PNW vibe).
Enjoy! You can search these on Trailforks and know they are goooooood..... :)
Go fast, be good, have fun!
