Top 3 Articles of Fall Clothing
Ahh, fall. The leaves are falling, the temps are cooling down, and California is still on fire (stay strong, CA...we are thinking of you!). No question, fall is the favorite season of many people. I, personally, am a huge fall fan.
Being from Utah I'm used to 100+ degree temps all summer and sub 20 degree weather all winter. Fall is amazing because it's that nice middle ground where you can leave your house and not have to worry about either turning into a sunburned monster or an icicle. But I'm not the only one who looks forward to fall. One survey even showed that 33% of Americans listed fall as their favorite season. However, with chillier temps, tee-shirts and swimsuits might not cut it anymore, which is why flannels, jackets, and other warmer types of clothing start to make their appearance around mid-September. In this article I'm going to give my two cents on what I believe are (in no particular order) the top three articles of clothing for the fall season.
1) The hoodie
There's something about rolling out of bed on a cold morning and immediately throwing on a hoodie that makes the coming day that much more tolerable. Let's face it: hoodies are just comfortable. But if you're craving a more adventurous type of day, hoodies work exceptionally well for your hike, bike ride, or walk around the block with your dog. They're even great for skiing/snowboarding on warm days. If you're looking for a rad new hoodie, may I humbly point you to the wonderful hoodie selection right here with Mambosok (hint-hint).
2) The flannel
Much like the hoodie, flannels are a great option for any type of day. Raking leaves in the yard? Check. Sitting in front of a computer screen on Zoom sessions all day? You got it. Climbing Kilimanjaro without any additional equipment except a trusty flannel and your bare hands? Actually, that one might be a bit overkill, but you get the idea. Plus, you do need pants (as opposed to Zoom calls). Flannels pass the dress code qualifications just about anywhere. I've on more than one occasion showed up to a collared shirt type event in a flannel and gotten away with it. They're also my personal favorite base layer for long days on the skin track when a long sleeve base layer just won't cut it.
3) The long sleeve tee
Ahh, the long sleeve tee. So simple, yet so stylish. And oh so comfortable. I couldn't even begin to count the number of long sleeve tees I own. Long sleeves are the epitome of comfort mixed with style on warmer fall days, or even colder winter days when you don't plan on being outdoors for too long. They're also one of the better options if you feel like wearing some crazy graphic that would normally be reserved for tee shirts. Long sleeves also work amazingly well for a base layer under another jacket, under a flannel, or even a hoodie on colder days. While not the most dressy piece of clothing, they sure are stylish. Just don't get caught in a snowstorm wearing your cotton, thin, moisture absorbing long sleeve tee. The tech just ain't there.
Honorable Mentions
Jogger Pants and Beanies
While they didn't make the main list, joggers and beanies are definitely two very important pieces of anyones fall wardrobe. Joggers, or as I like to call them "cool kid sweats" are a great option for those of us who want to wear sweatpants in public without everyone else knowing that you just finished an 8 hour Netflix binge. And beanies do very much the same thing for those days when you just don't want to worry about doing your hair. Go to your closet, grab a beanie of your choice and you're set: ready to impress everyone at the local coffee shop. They're also an amazing option for keeping your head warm while hiking, camping, or even just walking around the block. However, that second use seems to be almost secondary these days. Either way, the beanie is a must have for anyone no matter if you live in Hawaii or the Yukon.
Well, that's it for my list of my favorite articles of fall clothing. If you'd like to chime in on this, be sure to head over to mambosok.com/feed or follow us on instagram at @mambosokusa.
Take it easy, and stay stoked out there!
